Calling all 8th Grade Parents!

Let's show our amazing teachers how appreciative we are by stocking their school lounges with drinks and snacks! 

All items will be shipped directly to the school; no further work on your part.

🏀 Girls' Basketball Tryouts

7th and 8th grade girls’ basketball tryouts coming soon!

🗓️ Friday, September 25

🕞 3:30–5:00 PM
📍 CHMS Gym

All interested students must attend at least one day of tryouts to be considered for the team. While attending only one day is the minimum requirement, we strongly recommend and encourage attendance both days. Attending both sessions will give the girls the best opportunity to showcase their skills and abilities. 

Please remember that in order to try out, students must have a completed physical on file with Mary Youngman, the school nurse.

Rotary Run Mascot Runner Needed!

The PTO is looking for a volunteer to represent CHMS in our the annual Rotary Run Mascot Race!

Volunteer can be in middle school, high school, or an adult - you just have to be able to safely run in an eagle costume.

 

Rotary Run is Sunday, October 4th

 

• Schedule: Mascots report near the Community House tennis courts at 9:15 AM for group photos. The race is scheduled for 9:45 AM. They should be completely done by 9:55 AM.

• Costumes & Preparation: Kids can get dressed in their mascot costume in the Community House any time! They can also bring the costume to the parking lot to get dressed in their costumes.

• Course: The Mascot race is about one block long. It’s approximately a 10-yard dash located at the Rotary Run finish line, starting at the tennis courts.

Best of the Nest! - Ms. Nadia Viken

Dear wonderful CHMS Families,

As you may recall, our amazing PTO sponsors our staff appreciation award, the “Best of the Nest” with a premium parking spot for the winner!

Staff members nominate each other based on: Who has inspired you?, Who is making you a better staff member?, Who is making your day more enjoyable?, Who is doing great things for kids?, Who is consistently in your corner?, Who is implementing innovative strategies in the building?

This award continues to demonstrate the inspiring, kind, and giving staff we have here at CHMS. The incredible words that are written toward each other in response to the thoughtful actions taken are inspirational.

This month, Ms. Nadia Viken (Resource Teacher) was our lucky winner!

Guest Author Visit: Lindsay Currie - Brought to you by the CHMS PTO and D181 Foundation

In partnership with the CHMS PTO and D181 Foundation, the MRC is excited to host author Lindsay Currie on Tuesday, September 15th! 

Lindsay Currie is a popular middle grade author of titles such as Scritch Scratch, The Girl in White, The Mystery of Locked Rooms, and more! She will be promoting her newest book The Secret Bookstore Sleuth Society and discussing the writing and publishing process with students. Pre-autographed copies of The Secret Bookstore Sleuth Society and X Marks the Haunt can be ordered using the attached order form. Payment can be made via Skyward under “Optional Fees”, via check (made to CCSD 181), or cash. Order forms and payment are due to the CHMS Office or MRC by end of day Friday, September 11th.
