D86 High School Transition Night

Calling all current 8th grade parents and new families, please to join us Tuesday, January 14th at 6:30pm to learn how to best support your student during this important transition!

D181 Inclement Weather Reminder

Assessment of weather conditions will begin the day before with student and staff safety as the number one priority. The following factors are taken into consideration:

• Local weather forecasts 
• Road conditions
• Temperature and Wind Chill that is considered dangerous
• Availability of drivers and buses 
• Essential components are functioning properly (power, furnace, heat, water, phone)
• Communication/collaboration with D86 and the feeder schools

D181 strives to notify families of a closure as soon as possible. 

• If a decision can be made the day before a closure, the communication will be sent no later than 9:30 p.m. 
• In the event of a day of closure, a communication will ideally be sent between 5:30 and 6:30 a.m. 
• Communication will be sent via email, phone call, and text.
• Families can also check the District website, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and the Emergency School Closing Center.

D181 goal is always to keep schools open; however, there may be days when the weather is so severe that we cannot ensure the safety of our students and staff. Instead of a traditional “snow day” where school is canceled, inclement weather days may lead to remote learning days for all students. This would allow students to continue learning and eliminate the need to make up missed days at the end of the year.

• The day will consist of live virtual instruction and asynchronous/independent work.
• Staff will host office hours to answer questions.
• Information and links will be shared with families from the classroom teacher.

CHMS Yearbook Purchase

The 2024-2025 CHMS yearbook is now available for pre-order! 

Our annual yearbook signing event will take place on the last day of school so make sure to follow the steps below and secure your yearbook!

Here’s how to order:

2. Cost: $30

3. Deadline: Orders must be placed by Friday, March 7, 2025 to guarantee your child’s copy

4. Yearbook signing: Friday, May 30, 2025 - The last day of school

This yearbook will be a wonderful keepsake, capturing all the special moments, memories, and milestones from the school year.

Hinsdale Central Holiday Concert

We invite all CHMS families to come and celebrate the magic of the holiday season at Hinsdale Central's Annual Holiday Concert featuring all performing arts groups - band, choir and orchestra.

No tickets required! The concert will be held on Thursday, December 12^th at 7pm in the school's auditorium. Come and celebrate the spirit of the season and show your support to these fantastic musicians.

Welcome Back

We hope everyone enjoyed a restful Thanksgiving break with family and friends!

Students return to school on Monday, December 2nd.

Gift of the Season Gift Drop-Off

The PTO would like to remind you and your student to bring your gift donation to school this week to support the 18 families we are sponsoring through HCS Family Services.

Prior to break, students had the opportunity to select a yellow gift tag for a specific individual in need this holiday season. The card contained details for a specific wishlist item. We are collecting these gift items this week, Tuesday - Friday. Students can drop off the gift, with the yellow card attached, in the boxes at grade level entrances, or in the office.

Please include your yellow gift tag with your gift so they can be matched with the correct family. Remember, gifts must be new and unwrapped. Please include a gift receipt when possible. The suggested gift amount is up to $50. All gifts are due this Friday, December 6th so they can be distributed in time for the holidays.

If your student did not select a gift card, but your family would like to participate in the gift drive, please contact margiejeffords@yahoo.com.
