Summer Math Packets

Dear CHMS Students and Parents,

This summer we encourage you to continue to foster a belief in the importance and enjoyment of mathematics at home. Being actively involved in mathematical activities enhances learning.

In preparation for the 2017-2018 school year, each student entering 6th, 7th and 8th grade is required to complete a summer math review packet. Each packet correlates to the Common Core State Standards and focuses on the prerequisite concepts and skills necessary for student success in each math class. During the first week of school, students will be required to turn in their packets for a grade. All packets will be available for download at the CHMS and CHMS PTO website. Additional packets will be available at CHMS during summer office hours.

While completing the review packet, we recommend that students:
•show all steps used to solve final answers which may require additional paper •check all answers using the answer key
•use the many resources available on the internet if they need help.

Math Review Packet for 5th – 6th Grades should be completed by students who will be enrolled in 6th grade Math or 6th grade Advanced Math during the 2017-2018 school year.

Math Review Packet for 6th – 7th Grades should be completed by students who will be enrolled in 7th grade Math or 6th grade Accelerated Math during the 2017-2018 school year.

Math Review Packet for 7th – 8th Grades should be completed by students who will be enrolled in 7th grade Advanced Math or 8th grade Pre-Algebra during the 2017-2018 school year.

Math Review Packet for Pre-Algebra to Algebra I should be completed by students who will be enrolled in 7th grade Accelerated Math or 8th grade Algebra I during the 2017-2018 school year.

Algebra I Math Review Packet should be completed by students who will be enrolled in 8th grade Geometry or Algebra II / Trig. during the 2016-2017 school year.

The purpose of the summer math packet is to make sure students are prepared to start the year by understanding the prerequisite skills. We understand that summer is a busy time for families. If possible, we recommend that the packet is completed towards the end of the summer to ensure the skills are secured for the start of the year. We wish you and your family a safe, happy, healthy and mathematically thrilling summer!

Thank you for your continued support,
